Protese de silicone: será que eu teria coragem?

Eu não quero fazer aqui críticas para quem tomou, ou pretende tomar a decisão de colocar prótese de silicone nos seios, ou em outros locais do corpo apenas por motivos estéticos.
Moro no país com uma excelente reputação em cirurgia estética e em segundo lugar (se não for o primeiro) em contingente de mulheres que se submetem às cirurgias para aumentar o volume dos seios.
Conheço mulheres lindas e jovens que acharam que precisavam se sentir ainda mais sensuais, assim como outras que buscaram ter novos seios para ter um real ponto de atratividade física. Respeito a decisão de todas essas pessoas.
Eu mesma já fui orientada a preencher com uma cirurgia plástica a região da minha bochecha em razão de um tumor hemorrágico e invasivo, mas que felizmente não era um câncer, que por duas vezes quase me matou, há quase 20 anos atrás, pois com a idade, a pele vai perdendo a capacidade elástica de sustentação e o vazio que o tumor deixou entre a órbita do meu olho esquerdo e meu maxilar vai se tornar cada vez mais visível.
Por isso, penso muito no assunto e tento estar atenta às conversas a respeito das cirurgias que as mulheres buscam para alterar algo em seus corpos que não as agradam.
Em alguns casos, vejo que há uma tentativa de resgate da autoestima, por vezes já devastada por causa de alguma má formação, ou por uma característica que incomodam essas pessoas profundamente.
As cirurgias plásticas, feitas por profissionais competentes e em centros especializados, apesar do risco, em muitos casos significam um renascer, como uma nova vida para a pessoa e até para um casal, pois há mesmo casos em que essa mudança faz toda a diferença.
Há casos em que a cirurgia é para pessoas que não querem, ou não conseguem superar aquilo que consideram um handcap que traz insegurança ou até mesmo infelicidade. Eu não vejo como alguém pode recriminar este tipo de decisão.
Eu acompanhei, ou tenho ouvido falar, também, de muitos casos em que a cirurgia é usada, infelizmente em minha opinião, como uma varinha de condão para satisfazer o desejo de ter seios maiores, uma barriguinha enxuta, ou nádegas salientes para tornar-se mais atraente, muitas vezes com a ilusão de que o resultado pode trazer de volta um amor perdido, ou o interesse sexual do parceiro adormecido. Penso que o risco de decepção nesses casos é bem grande.
Na mesma linha, vejo que em muitos casos esses recursos são usados para fazer o papel de substitutos do esforço necessário para emagrecer e, para isso, a plástica de abdômen e a lipoaspiração são usadas como se fossem uma panacéia a superar os males advindos da preguiça e da falta de força de vontade.
Tenho um grande amigo, Dr. Newton. Ele é um excelente cirurgião plástico e sempre me diz (e eu concordo com ele) que a maioria das mulheres que o procuram para se submeter a uma cirurgia estética não possui uma recomendação adequada. Ou seja, elas não precisam esteticamente de se submeter a uma cirurgia para obter os resultados que desejam. Muitas deveriam fazer, a meu ver, uma boa terapia psicológica.
Eu brinco com ele dizendo que um dia eu pretendo me submeter a uma lipoaspiração abdominal e ele me responde, sabiamente: “você teria que perder peso para eu te operar e se você perder peso com regime e exercícios, então a cirurgia não será mais necessária!”
Eu realmente me pergunto, muitas vezes, se estaria disposta a correr o risco de uma cirurgia para ficar…na verdade, como todas as mulheres desejam…mais bonita!
Eu estarei em abril com 50 anos de idade e, apesar de ter nascido com uma genética favorável, sei que poderia corrigir, sim, alguns pontos de meu corpo (além da região da face cuja depressão ainda não é tão perceptível) como aquele pequeno pneu que insiste em permanecer em minha cintura, apesar do regime e da ginástica que eu faço.
Eu sempre me aprofundo em tudo para tentar entender o que está em jogo para analisar a relação custo/benefício de uma decisão importante.
Qual conclusão cheguei? Para mim – é importante que fique claro que falo sobre mim! – honestamente, acho que a ideia de colocar uma prótese de silicone nos seios, por exemplo, com o risco de rompimento ou de vazamento do material tóxico em meu corpo (um fato que tem sido cada vez mais frequentemente anunciado) somado à obrigação de, nos próximos 15 ou 20 anos, ter que refazer a cirurgia, obrigatoriamente, para substituir a prótese, mesmo sem que eu saiba como estarei até lá, ou seja, se terei saúde e condições financeiras de fazer outra cirurgia aos 65 ou 70 anos de idade, ainda me aterroriza.
Talvez porque eu já me senti, e fui mesmo, uma garota adolescente muito, mas muito feia, eu tive que aprender como valorizar aquilo que tenho de mais bonito, ou atraente, e, mais do que tudo, eu achei conscientemente que tinha que desenvolver outros atrativos para conquistar alguém interessante para mim, eu posso dizer que sei, definitivamente, que esta história que o que realmente importa é a beleza interior é uma mentira no curto prazo – no primeiro contato a parte física é aquilo que chama a atenção, não adianta disfarçar e é muito bom quando nos sentimos confiantes neste aspecto, se possível – mas para o médio e longo prazos é o que realmente funciona, tem peso em um relacionamento e em nosso bem estar.
Pode-se traduzir essa beleza interior como a capacidade de usar a inteligência a seu favor, como ter um bom senso de humor, ser agradável e desenvolver valores e atitudes que sejam respeitados por todos e, assim, você conseguirá aquilo que realmente importa (e que a idade e o aspecto físico não conseguem mudar): a nossa capacidade de gostar de nós mesmos e de despertar a admiração das pessoas que realmente valem a pena!
